Director of Eclipse
David Slade! He directed 30 Days of Night and Hard Candy... he is a very cool choice to direct Eclipse. He is an interesting director and if you haven't seen his previous work, I recommend it. I think he will really catch the darker elements of the book and give us one hell of a newborns versus wolves/Cullens fight.

Most Hysterical Romance Novel Blurb Ever?
The following snippet was in the back of one of my romance novels. I laughed out loud so hard when I read it that F demanded I tell him what was so funny. Turns out, it was even funnier the second time around!
How to Lose an Extraterrestrial in 10 Days by Susan Grant
Safe to say, I will not be buying this romance novel. I prefer to read about UFC-like fighters, football jocks and hockey players, thank you very much!

Zoom Zoom
The husband and I, along with two of our close friends, went down to Long Beach Thursday afternoon, to see the practice rounds of the Long Beach Grand Prix. We hooked it up, real city-style, by grabbing the Red line Metro from the Park and then switching at 7th & Metro to the above-ground Blue line to LB.
I've never been that into cars, but with a boss who's way into Formula 1 and my ride in a Lamborghini Superleggera last weekend, I've started to acquire a finer appreciation for fast cars and those things they do. (Um, mainly go fast, and um, look cool doing it...) I had to work all weekend, so I knew there was no way I could make it to see any of the races. (Besides, tickets are $42, which is a little steep for my part-time working self.) But Thursday's events were free, so we got to see two practice rounds, and the Shark Lagoon at the Aquarium of the Pacific.
I seriously did not know how excited I would get until we got there. As we were walking up to where the track was, you could hear the cars before you could see them, or even the track for that matter. F made fun of me when I went skipping ahead, anxious to get my first look at one of the open-wheel cars. We stood on the bridge by the exposition center for awhile, as one by one, the cars would fly by. We couldn't figure why there were two people per car at first, but we finally tracked down a guy who looked like he knew what was happening, and asked him. Apparently, you could take one spin around the track in an open wheel car with a professional driver for the low, low price of $1200. If I had an extra $1200 lying around, maybe I'd do it too, but who has that kind of cash?! Hell, if I'm paying $1200, I want to drive the thing!
(The car in the front is the Ford GT40, apparently the best, American-made sports car out there.)
Which, actually, I've looked into: I'm torn between the Skip Barber High Performance Driving School or the Bob Bondurant High Performance Driving School. Maybe I'll gift a class to myself for my 40th birthday? I'll need the next ten years to save up!
Expect to hear more from me on racing in the future, since my boss has decided to turn me into a Formula 1 fan if it's the last thing he does. It shouldn't be hard- I'm already jonesing to hear the high-powered engines again! (Although I may bring ear plugs this time, and save the last few decibels of my hearing.)
In other news, I dented the Rabbit as I was pulling out of my parking space the other morning... maybe I should hold off on the go-fast cars?

Do dogs go to Heaven?
Quite a debate between two churches!
This is literally a 'church signs' debate, being played out in a southern town, between the Catholic church and a (fundamentalist) Presbyterian churches that face each other across a street. From top to bottom you will see the response and counter-response over time. The Catholics are displaying a much better sense of humor! You get the impression that the Presbyterians are actually taking this seriously!

Tonight's entertainment...
Travis was quite good. We expected as much but we quickly realized we probably should have checked out their new cd.... we were a bit lost so we opted to dance like fools. It was loads of fun. Song of the weekend is a tribute to one of the songs we actually knew and are rather fond of...
PS... Republic Tigers opened and KILLED IT!!! I love them. They did the best cover of Blondie's Heart of Glass... ridiculous.

My favorite secret agent...
Really dug Chuck last night. K has a class now Mondays so I'm not going to spoil it but.... killer twist. The video has nothing to do with last night I just thought it was necessary to share. The music is lame but Sarah does indeed sizzle...

Confessions of a Literary Kind
Hello, my name is K, and I'm a bookaholic. At last count, I have four unread library books sitting by my desk, eight partially-read books stashed in the bedroom or living room and thirty COMPLETELY UNREAD books stuffed in various corners of our tiny apartment. Did you hear me? THIRTY!!!
And yet, when hubby dearest called to say he would be getting home later than originally thought, I contemplated running out and buying yet another new book... it's an addiction, and I'm not sure I can stop.
But admitting you have a problem is the first step, right? Okay, good, then I've made the first step.
Except, I'm not sure it's really a problem. I mean, it's not too expensive, as habits go. It doesn't hurt anyone else (except maybe for F, since I spend less time with him when I'm immersed in a good book). And, my writing teacher said herself last night that one of the best ways to become a better writer is to read more.
So where does that leave me now?

The Big Questions in Life
Today, I found myself pondering the "BIG" questions in life. Is there a God? What is my purpose in life? Where do we go when we die?
And, of course, the biggest question of all: what do I wear for my first creative writing class?
I mean, do I try for funky and cool? Classic and sophisticated? Relaxed and casual? Purposefully mismatched and strange? Do I wear my contacts, or trade them in for my glasses, to appear more intelligent?
I just don't know... Maybe I'll just stick with what I wore to the bookstore today, and figure, at the age of twenty-nine, I am who I am (Sam) and that'll have to do. Crazy, right?

Puscifer + Milla = Amazing
Puscifer was amazing. Easily one of the best shows I have seen... I tell you having Milla Jovovich as a special guest and watching her sing and dance all sexy like definitely made for a great show closer. Below is the song they sang but sadly the video does not show the hotness.

The KWT Book Review
In an effort to pretend that all my book reading serves a purpose other than to distract me from my increasingly dissatisfying life, I've decided to post a review here, on Tam & Kris present, on every book I read, starting now.
This means, oh yes my friends, that my very first book review, soon to follow, will be on... drumroll please... an erotic novel. Yikes, I hope my mom doesn't read this blog!
However, with that in mind, I've decided to alternate my, ahem, less illustrious reading with literature of a more high-brow nature. (Read: books I wouldn't mind my dad knowing I'm reading. Oh dear god, I hope he doesn't read this either!)
This ought to be good...

The New York Times: Wedding Celebrations
This past Sunday, there was an entry for one Mr. William Prince and his fiance, whose name I can't remember, and who ultimately has no bearing on this story, which is:
Please let someone be so cheesy as to say that she (the unnamed bride-to-be) got her Prince, William, so that I might feel justified in judging them for announcing their marriage in the New York Times.
I just don't get it, but hey, at least I made myself laugh. That counts for something.
